Judith A. McHale is Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, helping lead America’s engagement with the people of the world. Appointed by President Obama, she was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 21, 2009 and sworn in on May 26.

Ms. McHale is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Communications. For two decades, Ms. McHale was a leader in building Discovery Communications, the parent company of the Discovery Channel, into a far-reaching and renowned global media enterprise with 1.4 billion subscribers in 170 countries. She forged partnerships around the world and created innovative strategies that focused on understanding and respecting different cultural contexts and tapping local voices to succeed in diverse markets.

 Managing Director, Egypt & Middle East, Abercrombie & Kent

Managing Director for the Middle East and Egypt with Abercrombie and Kent, Amr Badr developed his career over the past 15 years in travel and hospitality industry as well as in international relations by serving in the Middle East, India, Europe, Canada, and the USA. He has been appointed to numerous committees and boards including the Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement, and the High Committee for Tourism Promotion and Media and Communications Committees of the Egyptian Tourism Federation. In 2003, he was unanimously elected to serve as Vice Chairman for Middle East and Africa People to People organization. He has received recognition for outstanding achievement and excellence from Queen Rania of Jordan, King Mohamed of Morocco, the Carter Center, People to People International, and MSC, among others.

Kathryn Brown is responsible for public policy development, emerging issues management, corporate responsibility initiatives, and cultivating strategic alliances with key national and international organizations for Verizon. In addition, she also has responsibility for the Verizon Foundation and its focus on the issues of education and literacy. Prior to joining Verizon, Ms. Brown was a partner at the law firm of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering, served as Chief of Staff to FCC Chairman William E. Kennard, and in the Office of Policy Analysis and Development at the US Department of Commerce National Telecommunications & Information Administration. She serves on numerous boards and advisory committees including the Smithsonian National Museum of American History board of directors and the FCC Advisory Committee on Diversity.

Jon Clifton

Deputy Director, Gallup World Poll

Jon Clifton is Deputy Director of the Gallup World Poll, an ongoing global study conducted in 150 countries, representing 98% of the world’s adult population. Clifton directs the overall strategies for the Gallup World Poll and Gallup Daily tracking and has been involved with both since their inception. Most recently, he became a member of Gallup’s Public Release Committee, the group that oversees and maintains Gallup’s public release standards for data, research, and methodology. He also leads Gallup global partnerships that include governments, NGOs, and foundations.

Clifton is a member of the Phi Delta Kappa/Gallup Poll Advisory Committee of the Public’s Attitudes Toward the Public Schools and the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Public Diplomacy Initiative. He is a non- resident Senior Fellow at the University of Baylor’s Institute for Studies of Religion and is a Special Olympics volunteer.

Clifton received a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Michigan. He received a juris doctorate with a focus in international law from the University of Nebraska and resides in Washington DC.

Martin Davidson took up the role as Chief Executive of the British Council in April 2007, having been Deputy Director General since September 2005. Martin’s commitment to international relationships has been a constant feature of his career, since as a young English graduate he went to Hong Kong as Administrative Officer, taking the high-level decisions on the running of a town of a million people. When he joined the British Council as Assistant Representative in Beijing in 1984, British Council China was an operation of 6 people working in a converted bicycle shed at the British Embassy. In those days it was illegal for a Chinese national to speak to a foreigner.

Martin played a pivotal part in building this fledgling presence up to its present strength of more than 230 people in four state-of-the-art offices. Martin himself was responsible for opening the South China office in Guangzhou and returned to Beijing in 1995 as Director of an operation fast establishing a reputation in an environment where understanding the Chinese way of working is fundamental. He speaks both Cantonese and Mandarin. He has also held various posts in the British Council’s Geographical Directorate with responsibilities that have included South East Europe, in a particularly troubled time in the region’s history, the Middle East, East Asia and the Americas.

Nancy joined GE as Vice President for Government Relations in May 2003 after a diverse and distinguished career in government. She served as Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President George W. Bush and as Assistant to Vice President Dick Cheney. Nancy had previously served as Assistant Secretary of the Army (Civil Works) and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (Inter-American Affairs) in the Administration of George H.W. Bush. She was on the White House staff as a Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs under Presidents Reagan and Bush, and also was a Deputy Assistant Secretary of State during the Reagan Administration. Her career in Washington began in 1981, when she worked in the US House of Representatives for Congressman Tom Loeffler of Texas, first on his leadership staff and then on the House Appropriations Committee staff. Nancy started her own consulting firm in 1993, and then joined with a Washington DC based firm, Hooper, Hooper, Owen & Gould in 1996. She represented a range of corporate and public interests in public policy and government related matters.

Robert Dunn

Mr. Dunn previously served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR), a nonprofit membership organization working with major global companies to promote more ethical, responsible and sustainable business policies and practices. In addition to his work at BSR, Mr. Dunn has served as a board member or advisor of other international and national groups working on business responsibility. Mr. Dunn was Vice President for Corporate Affairs at Levi Strauss & Co., where his responsibilities included the Levi Strauss Foundation and the company's philanthropic initiatives. He also spent 10 years in the public sector, serving in the Carter White House, the US Embassy in Mexico City and as Chief of Staff and a Cabinet Secretary for the Governor of Wisconsin.

Mary Eisenhower

Mary Jean Eisenhower was born in Washington, D.C. during her grandfather Dwight D. Eisenhower’s first term in office as President of the United States. After several years of volunteer work with People to People International (PTPI), Mary currently serves as President and CEO. In 1999, Mary started the People to People International Friendship Fund (IFF) as a way for people to help the friends and facilities they visit throughout the world and to help the PTPI Chapter network assist each other. One hundred percent (100%) of all funds received through the IFF go to the efforts and projects as specified by the donors. Following September 11, 2001, Mary founded Peace Camp 2003: An Evolution of Thought and Action and The Global Peace Initiative, a special event co-hosted by H. E. Suzanne Mubarak, First Lady of the Arab Republic of Egypt. Both programs continue today, bringing people from diverse areas of the world together to discuss issues and reach a better understanding of their unique and individual cultures. President Eisenhower founded People to People International on September 11, 1956. Mary joined PTPI hoping to carry on her grandfather’s dream, and it has become her life’s work. Mary’s speaker honorariums are donated directly to the IFF.

Harriet Mayor Fulbright leads the Fulbright Center, a non-profit organization in Arlington, Virginia, dedicated to promoting world peace and nonviolent means of resolving conflicts through international collaborations and education programs. Fulbright has extensive experience in the fields of education and the arts, serving from 1997 to 2000 as executive director of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities and earlier as president of the Center for Arts in the Basic Curriculum.

Ingrid Saunders Jones leads The Coca-Cola Company's global community engagement function, Global Community Connections. Under Ms. Jones' leadership, Global Community Connections works to make a unique and sustainable difference everywhere TheCoca-Cola Company sells products, one community at a time, by focusing on four global priorities areas: Water Stewardship (conservation and sanitation), Fitness and Active Lifestyles (physical fitness and nutrition), Sustainable Packaging (recycling) and Education.

As chair of The Coca-Cola Foundation, Ms. Jones leads the Company's philanthropic commitment to sustainable communities. Under her leadership, The Coca-Cola Foundation has contributed more than $256 million to education and other community initiatives. The Foundation continues to provide scholarships to high school students from across the country, and supports initiatives which increase the academic success of students in public and secondary schools. Additionally, Ms. Jones serves on the board of TheCoca-Cola Africa Foundation and The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation.

James Leach

James A. Leach is Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Prior to being nominated by President Obama for the post, Leach was a Professor at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University and Interim Director of the Institute of Politics and Lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School. Leach's brief stint in academia was preceded by 30 years of service as a representative in Congress where he chaired the Banking and Financial Services Committee, the Subcommittee on Asian and Pacific Affairs, and the Congressional-Executive Commission on China.

Leach attended Princeton, the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins, and the London School of Economics. He holds ten honorary degrees, has received decorations from two foreign governments, and is the recipient of the Wayne Morse Integrity in Politics Award, the Adlai Stevenson Award from the United Nations Association, the Edger Wayburn Award from the Sierra Club, the Norman Borlaug Public Service Award, and a Woodrow Wilson Award from both Princeton and Johns Hopkins. Leach served on the board of several public companies and a series of non-profit organizations, including the Century Foundation, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the Social Sciences Research Council, Pro Publica and Common Cause which he chaired. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and formerly served as a trustee of Princeton University.

Stanley S. Litow heads global corporate citizenship and corporate social responsibility at IBM. Under his leadership, IBM has been widely regarded as a global leader in Corporate Social Responsibility and prized for its societal and environmental leadership, its labor practices and civic leadership. Under Stan, IBM has developed innovative voice recognition technology to help non-literate children and adults learn to read, automatic language translation and bilingual email, open source technology to help people with disabilities access the web, a humanitarian grid to power research on Cancer and AIDS and new digital imaging technology to improve water quality. He helped devise IBM's Global Citizen's Portfolio consisting of matching accounts for learning and The Corporate Service Corps a corporate version of the Peace Corps that trains thousands of IBM's future leaders.

His articles and essays have appeared in numerous books and publications including the Yale Law Review, Annual Survey of American Law, Brookings Papers, the American Academy of Sciences, the Journal for the Center for National Policy, Education Week, Harvard Business School’s Working Papers, New York Times and Newsday.

Norman Mineta is Vice Chairman of Hill & Knowlton based in its Washington, DC office.  He is recognized for his expertise in transportation and national security, as well as accomplishments in economic development, science and technology policy, foreign and domestic trade, the environment, budgetary issues and civil rights.  Secretary Mineta served in Congress for over twenty years and in the Cabinets of both Republican and Democratic presidents.  For almost 30 years, Mineta represented San Jose, California, first on the City Council, then as Mayor and from 1975-1995 as a Member of Congress.  Secretary Mineta received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the U.S., and the Wright Brothers Memorial Trophy, awarded for significant public service of enduring value to aviation in the United States.

BDA serves a range of multinational members, among them McDonald’s, ExxonMobil, and Microsoft Corporation.

Caroline Roan is Vice President of Corporate Responsibility at Pfizer Inc., the research-based global pharmaceutical company headquartered in New York City. She is also the President of the Pfizer Foundation. In her role as Vice President of Corporate Responsibly, Roan has direct supervision of Pfizer’s philanthropic platform, Pfizer Investments in Health. The platform focuses on investing the full scope of the company’s resources to broaden access to medicines and strengthen healthcare delivery for underserved people around the world. Roan oversees a worldwide team based in New York and South Africa. She is a member of the Conference Board’s Corporate Contributions Council and the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund’s Leadership Committee.

Barbara Starr

Barbara Starr is a Pentagon correspondent for CNN, based in the network's Washington, D.C., bureau. Starr provides viewers with the latest news each day from the Pentagon regarding the war in Afghanistan and other national security matters. Since 2003, Starr has made repeated trips to Iraq, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa, where she has been embedded with U.S. troops. She traveled to Beirut, Lebanon in 2006 with U.S. Marines tasked with evacuating Americans during Israel’s war with Hezbollah. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Starr had exclusive access to Lt. Gen. Russel Honore as the only reporter traveling with him as he directed hurricane relief efforts. Starr has also reported directly from the Persian Gulf, Russia, Central America and the Chinese-North Korean border. Starr has profiled numerous wounded troops and reported on the fallen regularly from Section 60 at Arlington National Cemetery, the final resting place for veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Starr joined CNN in 2001 from ABC News where she had worked since 1998 as a producer for the network's news originating from the Pentagon, providing on- and off-air reporting on military and national security affairs. She also reported for Nightline, World News This Morning, World News Now, ABC Radio and ABCNews.com.

Assistant Secretary of State, Educational & Cultural Affairs

Ann Stock was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs on June 23, 2010. Assistant Secretary Stock leads the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, which promotes international mutual understanding through a wide range of academic, cultural, professional, and youth exchange programs. ECA exchange programs engage youth, students, educators, artists, athletes, and emerging leaders in many fields in the United States and in more than 160 countries. Alumni of ECA exchange programs comprise over one million people around the world, including more than 40 Nobel Laureates and more than 300 current or former heads of state and government.

Ms. Stock was Vice President of Institutional Affairs at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts from September 1997 to June 2010, where she oversaw the Center's expanded efforts to increase its national and international profile. She also managed the Center's International Arts Management Programs, and oversaw its Government Relations Office, Press Office, and Office of Institutional Affairs.

From 1993-1997, Ms. Stock served as Deputy Assistant to President William J. Clinton and as Social Secretary at The White House. Prior to that, she was Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Relations for Bloomingdale's Department Stores for ten years. Ms. Stock was also Deputy Press Secretary to Vice President Walter F. Mondale during the 1980 Presidential election campaign. She was an elementary school teacher prior to her career in politics and business.

Aaron Williams

Director, U.S. Peace Corps

Aaron S. Williams was sworn in as the eighteenth Director of the Peace Corps on August 24, 2009. Nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the U. S. Senate on August 7, 2009, Mr. Williams is the fourth director in the Peace Corps’ history to have served as a Peace Corps Volunteer. As a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1967 to 1970 in the Dominican Republic, Mr. Williams served in a training program for rural school teachers and as a professor of teaching methods.

Mr. Williams has pursued a career in the development and implementation of worldwide assistance programs. Among other positions, Mr. Williams was a vice president for International Business Development with RTI International and a senior manager at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), where he attained the rank of Career Minister in the U.S. Senior Foreign Service.

As USAID Mission Director in South Africa, Mr. Williams led a billion dollar foreign assistance program during President Nelson Mandela's administration. He was awarded the USAID Distinguished Career Service Award, and was twice awarded the Presidential Award for Distinguished Service.

Mr. Williams is a graduate of Chicago State University and has an MBA from the University of Wisconsin.

Doug Wilson has spent three decades in the public and private sector as a diplomat, legislative advisor, communications strategist and political and foreign policy specialist. He has advised political leaders, elected officials at all levels and Fortune 100 clients in the technology, communications, transportation, defense and security sectors. Wilson was foreign policy advisor to former Sen. Gary Hart; Director of Congressional Affairs and Senior Advisor at USIA; and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs. A Stanford University and Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy graduate, Wilson began his career as a Foreign Service information officer. He has conceived and organized successor generation leadership meetings all over the world.
