Journeys to Understanding
Immersion Journeys: Journeys to Understanding leads multi-cultural, multi-faith delegations of citizen diplomats on unique immersion journeys to key destinations in both the United States and the Muslim world. Reaching beyond tourism, each journey engages citizen diplomats in an array of challenging pluralistic experiences. Media serves an important role to extend the program’s reach and effectiveness. Our media emphasis helps insure an ongoing process of growth and connection in a variety of settings, from home and classroom to faith communities. The three main areas are, “virtual journeys,” social networking, publishing and productions.

Books as Bridges
Books as Bridges is a pen-pal and service learning program that connects students in the US to classrooms throughout the developing world. Students build international friendships by sharing letters, photographs, and artwork while applying their classroom education to an exciting real-world experience. Local students are encouraged to complete service projects for their overseas partner, which have in the past included book drives, awareness campaigns, and even fundraisers to send books to their pen-pals. Books as Bridges is a program of the International Book Project (IBP).
