Program Evaluation Outcomes and Post Institute Activity

The action plans and educator symposiums will result in an increased capacity in K-12 schools related to international curriculum, global education and access to international opportunities for students both in and outside of the classroom.  At the completion of the six-state project, there will be in place:

  • Six task forces of fifty or more statewide leaders (total: 300+) committed to continuing expansion and implementation of global education in their K-12 schools
  • Six hundred educators, teachers, school board members and curriculum administrators who will have increased knowledge of how to implement and access materials related to internationalizing their schools
  • One hundred and twenty school district teams with new knowledge presented that emphasizes how to utilize existing international resources in their communities to benefit K-12 students

The institute will enable these practitioners to use existing resources to adapt curriculum with international content, access available resources to incorporate language study, develop partner schools, and provide scholarships and opportunities for study and travel abroad.

A follow-up study will be conducted to assess how many school districts have implemented both the recommendations made by the state task force and how and to what degree the material is used in the classrooms, and how many teachers traveled abroad and brought this experience back to their students. The evaluation will also assess students and their level of competency.

Following the creation of the action plans and state symposiums, the state task forces will continue to work with the Institute in a series of ongoing activities involving evaluation of global education initiatives.  Additional follow-up programs and activities will be organized for a three-year period. The workshop and task force process is intended to serve as a model to be replicated in other states.

The web site will be evaluated by software that measures usage. Participants of the final summit will be surveyed regarding the usefulness of the information and effectiveness of the process. All evaluations will be designed and conducted in cooperation with the funding agency and, where appropriate, involve outside evaluators.
