AABF 2010
2010 Arab American Business Fellowship Program
An Invitation to Become a 2010 Fellow
U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy, in partnership with Business for Diplomatic Action and its partners now welcome nominations from American candidates for the 2010 Zamala: Arab & American Business Fellowship Program. As an international exchange of young high-potential executives and entrepreneurs, our Zamala program transforms the hearts and minds of young Americans and Arabs by immersing them in the professional and personal lives of their counterparts.
The three-week, expenses-paid program starts in New York on October 17, and ends in Dubai on November 6. In 2010, the American Fellows will visit Bahrain, Palestine, and the United Arab Emirates during the program.
Fellows are expected to put their energies, minds and hearts into the program. They learn and they teach. They create a dialogue to share ideas and insights through presentations and roundtable discussions. And they benefit from connecting with sponsor and host company executives who lead high-level mentoring and professional development sessions, and from local community members who organize rewarding and enriching cultural sessions.
The selection process for the Fellows is rigorous. Representatives from Business for Diplomatic Action, and the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy form the selection committee. Fellows are chosen based on the following criteria:
- A track record of excellence and achievement that indicates leadership potential in his or her chosen field, with a minimum of 5 years experience in their career field
- Possession of personal qualities necessary to benefit from the program and successfully apply the experience to his or her career field
- 25-40 years old
- College graduate with proven academic skills
- Willingness and ability to support the partner organizations in their outreach to host companies and corporate sponsors
- Willingness and ability to grasp the business opportunities that present themselves during the Fellowship program
- Willingness to speak to colleagues, professional groups, community organizations, and others about their experience after the Fellowship program has concluded
- American Fellows should have minimal direct personal experience with the Arab World.
To apply to become a Fellow in the 2010 Zamala: Arab & American Business Fellowship program, you must submit a letter of intent describing why you are interested in the program, your resume, and at least one reference from a senior executive or established entrepreneur, to Thomas.Miller@ddb.com. All applications are due by July 31, 2010.
