TED provides innovative thinkers from around the world a platform to voice their "ideas worth spreading", and aspirations for making the future of this planet a smarter and more peaceful one, it is truly a multifaceted undertaking and requires experts and thinkers from all disciplines and backgrounds.
TEDx are self-organized local community conferences/events around the world that occur on a frequent basis. In fact, a 2010 Citizen Diplomacy Award Honoree, Jenny Buccos, founder of Project Explorer, was a featured speaker this past weekend in Soweto, South Africa. Her topic: global citizenship, definitely an idea worth spreading.
