If you are looking for an opportunity to travel abroad, get an opportunity to participate on a service project and to live a completely new cultural experience, Service for Peace offers several different opportunities.

Service for Peace, a USCCD member organization, is an independent nonprofit organization that provides service opportunities through community development programs around the world.

Their upcoming program, Global PeaceMakers, will take place in the Dominican Republic. There are no restrictions on anyone who wishes to participate; everyone with a valid passport can apply. The deadline to apply is December 2, 2011.

The program will begin on January 3, 2012 and will go on until January 14, 2012. The project will take place in El Cidral, Dominican Republic. Volunteers from the US, from the Dominican Republican and others will collaborate to build a model classroom in El Cidral.

The program aims to "bring together young adults from nations throughout the Americas and the world in an effort to offer models for intercultural cooperation through service."

If you are interested you should contact Janna Gullery at jgullery@serviceforpeace.org. Or if you have questions, you can always check out their frequently asked questions portal. There are also several other projects that will take place during 2012 if you are interested in getting involved later on.

This is a great opportunity to get involved with an organization that focuses on blending community service, while combining the entire cultural experience on a foreign country.
