MIUSA leaders return having had “enriching experience” in Spain

Last month, a handful of leaders with disabilities traveled to Spain to participate in a cultural and leadership program as part of the Mobility International USA (MIUSA) exchange program.

The program, which lasted 11 days, emphasized the involvement of students in Spanish life. Along with enhancing their understanding of Spanish culture. These students also participated in workshops and discussions with disability leaders, site visits to Disabled People’s Organizations and universities, and participated in Spanish cultural enrichment activities.

The program was a huge success. You can view photos and read more about the students’ experiences on the MIUSA blog

The opportunity to travel abroad and learn about how other countries accommodate people with disabilities, share ideas and collaborate with counterparts across the globe is an effort worth highlighting. Through the years MIUSA, a USCCD Member Organization, has shown their commitment to “empowering people with disabilities to achieve their human rights through international exchange and international development.”

Citizen diplomacy is for everyone.  Don’t hesitate to get involved and learn more about MIUSA. They have plenty of opportunities to get involved in international exchange programs, as well as volunteer and internship opportunities.
