The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, a USCCD member organization, firmly believes in "promoting global understanding and respect between the people of Utah and other nations." Their variety of lectures offered certainly follows this principal.

For those of you in the Utah area, there are plenty of opportunities to attend culturally relevant lectures. The Utah Council has a long list of lectures lined up to promote citizen diplomacy.

On Thursday, September. 29, the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy and Westminster College will sponsor the "Long Term Solutions to Poverty" lecture and panel discussion. The event will take place at the Emma Eccles Jones Conservatory in Vieve Gore Concert Hall, at Westminster College. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the lecture and discussion will go on from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The panel will feature CHOICE humanitarian in-country directors from Bolivia, Guatemala, Kenya, Mexico and Nepal. These individuals will share their experiences in working with local villagers and will discuss the different social, political and economic turmoil facing their country.

This is a great opportunity to listen to a group of individuals with great knowledge and expertise of their countries and learn more about the social and cultural problems facing them.

The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is a member of the NCIV network, serving people in Utah and providing educational resources and other opportunities to expand and broaden the knowledge of citizens about citizen diplomacy.
