Diplomacy Blogs Feature: USC Center on Public Diplomacy
A recent blog post from the USC Center on Public Diplomacy brings attention to citizen diplomacy occurring in outside the US. In India, citizen diplomacy is being used to achieve better relations between India and Pakistan, two nations that have been at conflict for the better part of the last century. Citizen diplomacy brings people from different national, cultural, and religious backgrounds together under the banner of mutual understanding and relationship building.
While in India, our team had the opportunity to meet with many groups conducting citizen diplomacy to help improve India-Pakistan relations. These groups varied in their scope of approaches from being deeply involved in conflict transformation, to not directly taking a stance on the issue at all.
There is much room for improvement in relations and citizen diplomacy can play a significant role in developing more peaceful relations.
