Alliance of Civilizations Fellowship Program

In light of the recent events in the Middle East, the United Nations Alliance of Civilization (UNAOC), in partnership with the British Council, the League of Arab States, ISESCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar and the Institute for International Education, has developed a Alliance of Civilizations Fellowship Program.
The aim of this fellowship "is to enhance mutual knowledge and understanding between peoples and societies from Muslim-majority countries in the Arab World, and from Europe and North America. Emerging leaders from the Arab world travel throughout three countries in Europe and three States in the US; emerging leaders from the US and Europe travel in three countries throughout the Arab world."
Through extended travel fellows gain a more thorough understanding of attitudes, politics, business, culture, and society by meeting a variety of people and participating in their way of life
- Better understanding by emerging leaders from Europe and the US of the Arab and Muslim World and vice versa
- Developing personal connection, interaction and cooperation among emerging leaders from both sides
- Applying the lessons learned in their capacity of leadership
- Create a strong network of leaders knowledgeable on this reality of issues related to relations between the Western world and the Muslim world
As a part of this program, 24 emerging leaders from North America and Europe and the Middle East have already travelled to Europe, USA and the Middle East.
Here are the tentative dates for 2011 Fellowship:
11-26 September, 2011 - Arab participants travel to Europe and North America
21 September - 5 October - European and North American participants travel to the Middle East and North Africa
